There are also terms in logistics that are customary in communications between client and carrier that often make communication easier. The most frequently used terms are as follows:
FORWARDER - a person that procures transport of shipments in his name but on the account of a customer – consignor for an agreed remuneration.
CARRIER - an owner of a vehicle or a person who ensures goods in order to load vehicles to a full extent to be able carry out transport efficiently.
TRANSPORT - transfer of shipments from point A to point B.
EXPRESKA - express transport of goods that require as fast as possible transport and delivery. It often involves precisely determined times of loading and unloading of goods – scheduled transport.
ORDER - a confirmation of transport and price; forwarding agreement.
LOADING - 1. the place where goods are loaded onto a vehicle
2. loading of goods
UNLOADING - 1. the place where goods are unloaded
2. unloading of goods.
ADDITIONAL LOADING - means loading of other goods onto a vehicle that already carries some goods. When opting for this mode of transport, the client usually does not want to pay for the whole vehicle, only for its part.
COLLECTION - means a system of collection of goods from various points and clients that are then transported to a central warehouse and then transported from the central warehouse to various destinations.
CARGO METER, CARGO AREA - mean the number of meters that the loaded goods cover in a vehicle with the standard width of 2.40 m. If the vehicle is less than 2.40 m wide, it is always necessary to know the precise number and dimensions of pallets that are to be loaded onto it. It specifically concerns vehicles of the Avia type because older vehicles are only 2.20 or 2.35 m wide.
LOADING CAPACITY - the weight that the vehicle can carry.
PALLETS - wooden rests, platforms for relocation or storage of goods. We mostly use the following three types of pallets:
1. europallet EWP (1,20 x 0,80)
2. industriepallet (1,20 x 1,00)
3. IBCS (1,20 x 1,20)
ADR - an abbreviation for hazardous goods. Transport of hazardous goods such as explosives or flammable materials is subject to ADR regulation that is valid throughout Europe. The consignor decides whether goods are subject to ADR regulation or not and provides us with the information, in the order, about the type of ADR. The trader's responsibility is only to pass this information to the carrier. Based on the ADR class the carrier, who has trained drivers, adjusted vehicles, and the statutory accessories and equipment determined for the transport of hazardous goods, is able to establish what type of hazardous goods it is and why they are hazardous. There are 9 basic classes of ADR goods.
EXTRA LARGE - it means transport of extra large goods that require special approval for each country and sometimes also a police escort is necessary
